JAIM is committed to open access publishing. All articles are freely available to readers worldwide, promoting the widest possible dissemination of research. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a license to publish under a Creative Commons license.

This license allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. It allows for commercial use.

Authors may request this more restrictive license, which allows others to download and share the work with attribution, but does not permit commercial use or derivative works. Requests must be made at the time of submission.

Peer Review Process

All submissions to JAIM undergo a double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. The review process focuses on:

  • Scientific rigor and methodology
  • Novelty and contribution to the field
  • Clinical relevance and potential impact
  • Clarity of presentation
  • Ethical considerations

Review decisions typically include: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject. The editorial team works closely with authors to ensure high-quality publications.

Initial editorial screening for scope, quality, and adherence to journal guidelines.

External Peer Review

1-3 months

Double-blind peer review by at least two independent expert reviewers.

Publication Ahead of Print

Within 1 month after acceptance

Accepted articles are published online immediately upon final acceptance.

Formal Publication

1-3 months after acceptance

Articles are formally published in the next available issue. Original Articles are prioritized.

Publication Schedule

Journal for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (JAIM™) will publish on a continuous basis, with articles published online as they are accepted. Issues will be compiled twice yearly beginning in 2026.

Publication Frequency: Continuous online publication with biannual issue compilation (June and December).
